Hubris: The Ugly Side of Real Estate

hu·bris ˈ(h)yo͞obrəs/
noun
excessive pride or self-confidence.
synonyms: arrogance, conceit, haughtiness, hauteur, pride, self-importance, egotism, pomposity, superciliousness, superiority

A real estate closing is a beginning. Whether selling or buying, signing closing documents is the catalyst to better things in my clients’ lives. It is their day, not ours. And “ours” includes the Realtor®, the Title Company Escrow Officer , the Loan Officer and Attorneys.

This is a list of the #1 “don’ts”:

1. Realtors® – don’t discuss other clients at the closing table

2. Escrow Officers – don’t flaunt who you know or what you’re wearing

3. Loan Officers – don’t incorporate your feedback form into the loan documents

4. Attorneys – don’t marginalize the other real estate professionals

The bottom line is that it ALL revolves around the home buyer or seller. And, like gravity, if you forget that then you’ll eventually go flying off in to outer space.
